BACK FROM SUMMER!

Hello everyone I am officially back from the summer! Things have been hectic and fun at the same time. Between crops and classes, I have been trying to make the most of my summer with doing things with my family. Trips to Santa Cruz and Monterey were some of the things we did along with the frequent trips to San Francisco and Fresno. Working on a healthier me, walking and running has become a daily activity for me. I am excited to start working on my Holiday projects for the Christmas. I have picked up a few new tools here and there while I was out of town at some scrapstores and can't wait to put them to good use! Keep checking back to see what is new!

MY FIRST FLOWERPOT SWAP!

This was my first swap and it was fun! It was a flowerpot swap and it was hosted by MUNKEE from the cricut messageboard! We all had to make 6 flowerpot cards to be swapped among the other participants in the swap. These were some talented women whom i must admit had me feeling a little bit intimated by their levels of expertise. There ended up being all levels of talent in this swap which put my mind at ease somewhat. I did my best on mine and crossed my fingers and hoped whomever received one of mine liked it. Here are the ones I received and I have my favorites, but I can honestly say I like them all. I think I will participate in some other swaps in the future as well.

EASY WAY TO MAKE SKITTLES!

If you have been wanting to try using skittles to embellish your projects but have not gotten around to purchasing them yet, well here's your chance to try them out for pennies! Since they are basically round shaped gems you should be able to make your own using a hot glue gun and some glue sticks. I also love the fact that you can make the skittles any colors you want by simply using alcohol inks to color them or in my case, by using colored glue sticks, I also used glitter glue sticks that came out really pretty! I did some experimenting first and noticed that if you use a clear glue stick right behind a colored glue stick you will end up with a mixed effect that is so cool. I also used two different color sticks to come up with duo colored skittles. The one thing i love about this technique is that the glue cools almost instantly so you dont have to wait to use them. You will need a sheet of waxed or freezer paper to squeeze your dots onto so they wont stick and they come off just like glue dots. You can use any temp glue gun, i prefer the cool glue gun because i have gotten burned one too many times. You can also make the skittles as small or as large as you want! Also great for making raindots! (just squeeze a small dot then pull the glue to form a tail) Experiment and have fun!
MATERIALS USED
Glue Gun hot or cool
Glue sticks clear and colored/glitter/metallic etc
Wax or freezer paper
plastic bag for storage
*glue dots will stick together if touching each other, but will simply pull apart. try coating with a tiny bit of baby oil or spray.
